Tehran schools closed due to air pollution

The governor of Tehran says that elementary schools, kindergartens, preschools, and special education centers in the capital and the cities of Varamin, Qarchak, and Pishva will be closed on Wednesday, November 12, in the morning and evening due to air pollution.

Anushirvan Mohseni Bandpay said that Tehran's air quality index has not yet passed the unhealthy level for sensitive groups and is at 133.

According to him, the numerical index of 10 regions of Tehran has exceeded 150 and this trend is increasing, and the stability of Tehran's weather will continue until Thursday.

IRNA news agency writes that Abbas Shahsoni, head of the Air Health Group of the Environmental and Occupational Health Center of the Ministry of Health, said that Tehran's Emergency Medical Center has had 2,863 missions regarding heart and lung patients in the past 24 hours.

Statistics from the Air Quality Control Company show that since November last year, Tehran has had 156 days of unhealthy air for sensitive groups and 8 days of unhealthy air for the general public, with the air pollution index in some cases being very dangerous.
