US Justice Department Sentences Two Iranians to Prison for Spying on Members of the Mojahedin Organization

The US Department of Justice announced Wednesday night that it has sentenced two Iranian-American citizens to prison for spying on members of an opposition group in the United States.

Ahmadreza Mohammadi Doostdar, a 39-year-old Iranian-American citizen with dual citizenship, and Majid Ghorbani, a 60-year-old Iranian citizen living in California, were sentenced to 38 and 30 months in prison, respectively.

The two individuals were charged with illegally monitoring individuals and collecting information about some American citizens who are members of the People's Mojahedin Organization (MEK), for the benefit of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
