According to official statistics from the Iranian Ministry of Health, today was declared a "day without coronavirus deaths."

Iran's Ministry of Health claimed on Thursday that no deaths from coronavirus have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health's statistics on cases of infection and death from the coronavirus have always been subject to doubt and criticism; some statements by state officials or members of parliament, as well as civil registration statistics, indicate that the number of coronavirus victims is probably about 3 times the figures announced by the Ministry of Health.

At the same time, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi issued a statement on Thursday, announcing, "This great achievement was achieved in a situation where our country was facing numerous cruel sanctions from some powers claiming to uphold human rights, even in importing vital medicines and health and medical facilities necessary to treat this disease."

His statements come at a time when many officials and drug import officials have previously announced that there are no restrictions on importing drugs, especially the coronavirus vaccine, into the country.

Also, the ban on the import of vaccines produced in the UK and the US to combat the coronavirus by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, and the subsequent rise in coronavirus victims have drawn widespread criticism.

The claim of spending a day without a coronavirus death is being announced at a time when, according to Worldometer statistics, which are based on official statistics from countries, nearly 40,000 people infected with the coronavirus have now been registered in Iran, 511 of whom are in critical condition.
