An arrest warrant was issued for Saba Kamali after she supported the "Blue Girl"; charge: insulting Imam Hussein

While the news of a girl's self-immolation and death in Iran has sparked widespread domestic and international reactions, some news agencies reported the issuance of an arrest warrant for an actor on the pretext of "insulting the third Imam of the Shiites" in articles supporting the girl.

Fars News Agency, an agency affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced the issuance of an arrest warrant for Ms. Saba Kamali, an Iranian film and theater actress, after she posted a post on Twitter in support of “Sahar Khodayari.” However, in the report, in the long-standing tradition of Iranian state media, only the initials of Ms. Saba Kamali’s first and last names were used, and she was introduced as a “not-so-famous film actress.”

The news agency announced this news on Wednesday night, September 10, and wrote that the reason for the arrest order for "S.K." was for insulting the third Imam of the Shiites.

After this news was published, however, Ms. Kamali deleted her post and wrote that the text she had published was an "imaginary and sincere" conversation with the third Imam of the Shiites, and that she had deleted the post because of "misguided and fanatical" people.

In his deleted post addressed to the third Shiite Imam, he described Sahar Khodayari, known as the "Blue Girl," as "more oppressed" than him.

Sahar Khodayari, a fan of the Tehran Esteghlal team who was arrested months ago while trying to enter the stadium to watch football, recently set himself on fire in front of a judicial unit in Tehran upon hearing the news of his prison sentence and died a few days later from the severity of his injuries.

On Tuesday night, September 9, the US State Department, continuing the widespread reactions to the death of Sahar Khodayari, wrote in a message on its Persian Twitter: "The tragic passing of Sahar Khodayari, the Blue Girl, is yet another testament to the fact that the greatest victims of this regime are the Iranian people themselves."
