Two human rights organizations: Iranian Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts forced confessions of 355 people

The Justice for Iran Organization and the International Federation of Human Rights Societies issued a joint statement calling for an end to the Iranian government's use of forced confessions.

A joint report by the two organizations says that over the past decade, at least 355 forced confessions and defamatory content against 505 people have been broadcast on Iranian state television. The report says that these confessions and the public broadcaster have been used as weapons of mass repression.

The two human rights organizations said that the 57-page report is the result of more than 1,500 hours of research, analysis of more than 150 programs, and 13 in-depth interviews with victims of forced confessions.

Adil Rahman Khan, Secretary General of the International Federation of Human Rights Societies, referred to the Islamic Republic's long-standing use of forced confessions to suppress dissent and said that it is time for the international community to pressure Iran to stop the confessions.
