IRIB Chairman: We proudly say we are a military platform

Immediately after saying, "We are not the public relations of any organization," the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization added, "But we proudly say that we are a military platform" and "we show the services and achievements of the system."

On Wednesday, March 8, Peyman Jabali described the IRIB as "a ship in which the entire system is sitting," and, claiming that "with proper support, it can be the solution to all of society's problems," called on the government and the Islamic Consultative Assembly to "believe in it."

On Monday, Amen Sadat Zabihpour, a journalist for the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IRCC), whom some social media users call an "interrogator-journalist" due to her history of participating in the forced confessions of some political prisoners, was introduced to the position of "editor-in-chief of the foreign Persian-language media group" at the IRCC.

Iran's state-run radio and television is among the organizations under the supervision of the Islamic Republic's leader, and according to research by Toby Dershowitz and Talia Katz of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, in addition to "spreading misleading information and regime propaganda," it has regularly broadcast forced confessions from political prisoners who have been victims of torture.

The order issued by Amine Zabihpour's mission in this position states that she will "continuously monitor the content of foreign media and expose the tactics" of foreign media outlets, as well as expose these media outlets and produce content for "bulletins."

On February 10, Leader of the Islamic Republic Ali Khamenei attacked cyberspace and foreign media, calling for a "combined offensive" stance, saying: "The Islamic system needs a combined defensive and offensive move centered on the urgent and definitive duty of Jihad of Explanation."
