New daily record for coronavirus cases in Iran; death toll still above 600

According to the latest official statistics on coronavirus cases and deaths in Iran, announced by the Ministry of Health, 50,228 people have been infected with coronavirus in the past 24 hours, which is a new record.
The Iranian Ministry of Health has also announced that 625 people have lost their lives during these hours, bringing the total number of victims to more than 99,000.
The official number of coronavirus victims in Iran is being announced at a time when the Medical System Organization has previously estimated the actual number of victims in Iran to be three to four times the official figure from the Ministry of Health.
Iranian Ministry of Health officials had previously said that the number of coronavirus cases and victims would increase over the next month.
Hamid Suri, advisor to the Minister of Health, referred to this issue on Sunday evening, August 15, saying that "holding large gatherings" is the most important concern of health and medical authorities, and in cities like Mashhad, "if the situation continues like this, the number of hospitalizations and deaths will definitely increase sharply."
