US Republican Senator Speaks of End of Khamenei's Rule in Support of Iranian Popular Uprising

Texas Senator Ted Cruz emphasized the "weakness of the Iranian regime" and the escalation of widespread popular protests, saying that Ali Khamenei's government is numbered.

Ted Cruz, the Republican Senator from Texas in the United States, while referring to the widespread public protests in the past few days, published a controversial message on the social network X, making statements about the internal situation in Iran and the popular uprising that have had widespread repercussions in international political circles.

Cruz wrote bluntly: “Losing wars has consequences. Israel’s 12-day campaign against the Iranian regime and Donald Trump’s historic decision to destroy its nuclear program have exposed the regime’s weakness to the Iranian people and the world.” The US senator added: “The Iranian people are rising up, and the Ayatollah’s days are numbered.”

Cruz's comments come as a wave of nationwide protests continues in Iran. The protests, which began over economic crises and the collapse of the national currency, quickly turned into a widespread anti-government movement and have been reported in more than a dozen cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Karaj, as security forces try to control the protesters with tear gas and pepper spray.

Cruz made these statements while reposting a report from an active open-source data account that showed that protests in Iran were not only widespread but also growing. The repost named a significant number of cities as “protest hotspots” and even referred to the use of high-pressure water cannons by security forces against protesters in Hamedan, which independent analysts have confirmed.

In addition to Cruz's statements, US President Donald Trump also issued a sharp warning about the situation in Iran, saying: "If the Iranian government shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters, the United States of America will come to their aid."

Donald Trump also emphasized: "We are on full alert and ready to act." The publication of Trump's message on his personal social network clarifies the US government's position in supporting the Iranian people.

This type of speech by American officials comes at a time when protests in Iran are considered the largest wave since 2022, and international reports indicate the deaths of several people and severe clashes between protesters and security forces; the media has reported the continuation of protests in numerous cities with anti-government slogans and widespread calls for government change.

Domestic reactions in Iran to foreign positions have also been sharp; the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has warned that foreign intervention is a violation of international law and that Tehran will resolutely confront any foreign interference.

These developments show that Cruz's words not only reflect the support of some American politicians for the protests of the Iranian people, but also fall within the context of escalating international tensions; tensions that have been fueled by Trump's statements and the harsh reactions of Iranian officials regarding "violating red lines."

These statements can be analyzed in the larger context of support for human rights, freedom of expression, and solidarity with people who have risen up for justice and human dignity; issues that have been prominent not only in American policy, but also in the global view of the situation in Iran.
