Taliban again claim "complete capture" of Panjshir

A Taliban spokesman has announced that the Taliban have succeeded in capturing the last stronghold of resistance in Afghanistan after besieging Panjshir. The group had also claimed to have captured Panjshir three days ago, but the struggle of the “Afghan National Resistance” forces continued.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has claimed “complete control” of the Panjshir Valley. Panjshir was the last stronghold of resistance against the Taliban government. The Taliban had failed to capture the region during their first term in power (1996-2001).

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, announcing the capture of Panjshir, spoke of liberating Afghanistan from the quagmire of war.

The Taliban also claimed to have captured Panjshir on Friday, September 3. This is despite the fact that fighting between the National Resistance Movement and fighters affiliated with the group continued after that, despite the advance of Taliban forces in the region.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Resistance Movement has confirmed the killing of its spokesman, Fahim Dashti, as well as General Abdul Wadud Zarha, a relative of Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Before his death, Fahim Dashti had tweeted about the resistance movement's readiness for a ceasefire. In the last few days of last week, the Panjshir Valley was besieged by Taliban forces.
