Call for "Protest Tuesdays Against the Execution"

Frankfurt residents will hold a call today called "Protest Tuesdays Against the Death Penalty."

This week, Frankfurt will witness another protest rally as part of the global "No to the Death Penalty" campaign. Iranian and non-Iranian activists and freedom fighters are scheduled to gather at Hauptwache Square on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 5:00 PM to once again express their opposition to the Islamic Republic's systematic policy of issuing and carrying out death sentences.

The main focus of the gathering will be on the threat of execution of four female activists, as well as the fate of political prisoners sentenced to death. Organizers emphasized that the gathering is not only a symbolic act of protest, but also a voice for global solidarity with those who have stood up to the oppressive regime.

Executions are essentially nothing more than a form of “legalizing state murder.” Over the decades, the Islamic Republic has shown that using this tool is more a means of instilling fear, eliminating opponents, and consolidating power than it is for the administration of justice. It is this approach that elevates these gatherings beyond a mere protest movement and turns them into a serious demand for an end to state violence.

There is no doubt that such protest actions outside Iran, albeit on a limited scale, can sensitize international public opinion; but the serious criticism is that such movements, if not transformed into a sustainable network of political, media and legal pressure, will remain in danger of being forgotten and symbolically repeated. The fight against the death penalty requires a broader connection between Iranian civil society, human rights institutions and European governments in order to increase the political cost of implementing this inhuman punishment for the Islamic Republic.

The organizers' explicit invitation to all Iranians and freedom-loving people is to actively participate in this rally and convey a single and clear message: "No to the execution - no to the Islamic Republic."
