Violence against religious minorities has increased around the world.

According to research by the Pew Research Center in Washington, violence and discrimination against religious minorities is increasing worldwide. The most discrimination against religious minorities occurs in countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

The Pew Research Center in Washington released the results of a study on the situation of religious minorities around the world on Monday, July 15. According to the results, violence and discrimination against religious minorities are increasing all over the world, from Asia to Europe.

For example, 20 European countries have restrictions on the wearing of religiously motivated headscarves. In 2017, 52 countries around the world increased their pressure on religious communities compared to a decade earlier. A decade ago, 12 countries were less likely to commit violence against religious minorities than they are now.

The report states that discrimination and violence against religious minorities is much higher in the Middle East and North Africa. Islam is the official religion in 17 of the 20 countries in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, there are extremely harsh laws against those who question the laws and principles of Islam. In Thailand, Buddhists have many privileges compared to other religions. In China, only certain accepted groups have the right to hold religious ceremonies.

The study also says that conflict and tension between religious groups has decreased in the world. In 2017, tensions between different religious groups were lower in 57 countries than in 2007. The Pew Research Center is a reputable institution that conducts research in 198 countries around the world and uses data sources from the United Nations and non-governmental organizations.
