Swiss government bans Hamas terrorist group

The Swiss government has banned the activities of the terrorist group Hamas based on a new law.
The Swiss government announced yesterday, Wednesday, March 2, a new law that will ban the activities of Hamas and its front or successor organizations, as well as organizations or groups that operate on behalf of or in the name of Hamas.
The Swiss government, while referring to the October 7 attacks by the Hamas group on southern Israel, which killed at least 1,200 people and started the war in Gaza, announced that two Swiss citizens were also killed in those attacks, as a result of which the Swiss government intends to ban the activities of the Hamas group.
The Swiss government said in a statement: "The aim of the ban is to punish Hamas for the terrorist attacks in October and to prevent the group from using Switzerland as a safe haven or carrying out attacks in the country by imposing entry bans or facilitating the expulsion of its members. The ban also helps Swiss anti-money laundering authorities to better exchange information with their counterparts abroad and to combat the financing of terrorism."
According to the Swiss government, the law is in a consultative phase and will be limited in implementation for five years. In addition, the United States, Britain, the European Union, Japan, Israel and some other countries have listed Hamas as a terrorist organization.
