Israeli army commander: Cooperation with the US in confronting Iran is unprecedented

General Kochavi, the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Israeli Army, met with the Commander of CENTCOM, the White House National Security Advisor, and the Director of the CIA in the United States. He described the shared goal of the US and Israeli militaries as “neutralizing Iran’s hostile behavior.”

The Israeli army chief of staff praised the “unprecedented cooperation” with the United States in confronting Iran on Wednesday, June 23. General Aviv Kochavi met with General Frank McKenzie, the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), at the headquarters in Florida.

The Israeli commander's remarks came on the same day that Iran announced it had foiled a sabotage attack on the country's Atomic Energy Organization building near Karaj.

Kochavi has been in the United States since Sunday. In his meeting with General McKenzie, he discussed the recent war in Gaza, Syria, and cooperation between the United States and Israel.

He said in a statement: "The operational cooperation between the Israeli army and the US military is unprecedented in its scope and has reached new heights."

Kochavi has called the “common and main goal” of the two countries’ armies “to neutralize Iran’s hostile behavior.”

He added: "Iran seeks to establish and strengthen terrorists in many countries, and continues to pose regional threats by expanding its nuclear program, advanced weapons including ballistic missiles, and financial support for terrorist militias."

The Israeli army chief of staff also met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and discussed "Iran's influence in the Middle East and the shortcomings of the nuclear deal."

The Israeli army statement said: "In a meeting with Sullivan and CIA Director William Burns, Kochavi proposed several ways to prevent Iran from becoming capable of producing nuclear weapons."

The Israeli commander's visit to the United States will end on Friday, June 25.
