List of Peaceful Countries in the World; Iran Ranks 133rd

Peaceful relations in many regions of the world have declined due to terrorism and political instability. Iran ranks 133rd among 163 countries in the world in this regard.

Every year, the number of crisis hotspots in the world increases. According to the latest ranking by the “Institute for Economics and Peace,” 2015 was a year full of conflicts and bloody clashes.

This ranking shows that the severity of the crisis situation in the Middle East and North Africa has intensified. Among all this, Iran ranks 133rd among 163 countries in the world.

Europe remains the most peaceful continent in the world. In this context, Iceland, Denmark, and Austria occupy the first to third positions in this table.

A Crisis-Ridden World

According to the report by the aforementioned institute, titled “Global Peace Index,” released on Wednesday (June 8), particularly the critical situation in Yemen, Libya, and Bahrain has intensified.

The authors of this report write that Syria continues to be among countries where peaceful relations and relations have no place. Turkey, Brazil, and Ukraine also continue to face insecurity and crisis.

Only in one-quarter of the countries reviewed last year did terrorist operations not occur. In 2014, more than one hundred thousand people lost their lives as a result of regional bloody conflicts. This figure was 20,000 in 2008.

On the Path to Peace

In contrast, Panama, Thailand, and Sri Lanka are improving. The authors of the report recall that although Europe remains the most peaceful continent in the world, the conditions of most of its countries have worsened compared to last year.

The “Institute for Economics and Peace” in London is a global research institution that works in the fields of peace and economic benefits derived from it. The research of this institute covers studies in 23 areas including war, terrorism, social security, and acts of state violence.
