Iran's judiciary tried and executed two prisoners on charges of war crimes "in the shortest possible time"

The Islamic Republic of Iran's judiciary announced that it has executed two prisoners who were tried "in the shortest possible time" on charges of setting fire to the "Dare Garm" gas station in Khorramabad.
According to Iranian media reports, Mohammad Razm, the Chief Justice of Lorestan, announced the news on Wednesday, January 12, saying that the two people set fire to a gas station on February 7, 2018, and were "identified and arrested" by "security forces" in Lorestan.
Citing "interrogations," Razm claimed that the two individuals "intended" to carry out an "operation" to "create widespread insecurity throughout the province."
Javed Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, has stated in his latest report to the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly that some sentences issued in Iran, including death sentences, were based on forced confessions and confessions obtained under torture and were not issued on the basis of justice.
Citing previous reports, the Iranian Human Rights Organization announced the identities of the executed as "Jahanbakhsh Abbasi" and "Mehran Naqdi."
On December 15, 2019, the Chief Justice of Lorestan introduced the two individuals arrested in connection with the Khorramabad gas station explosion as "dismissed forces of the military apparatus who have been redeemed."
The Islamic Revolutionary Courts handle charges of "corruption on earth" and "moharebeh," which apply to a wide range of crimes and are punishable by death under Iranian law.
