Mike Huckabee condemns attack on Christian village of Tayba

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee strongly condemned the recent attack on the Christian village of Taiba and its church.

According to the Times of Israel, Baptist pastor Mike Huckabee visited the Christian village of Tayyiba on Saturday, July 19. He condemned the attack on the village and its historic church in Judea and Samaria, calling it a crime against humanity and sanctity.

According to church leaders, the attacks also included a very intense fire near the ruins of St. George's Church.

Mike Huckabee said of the attacks: "The desecration of religious freedom is an act of terrorism that must have severe consequences." He also wrote on his X social media account: "I met with residents of Tayyiba on Saturday to both listen and learn."

Regarding the attack on a place of worship, Mike added: “Any attack on places of worship, whether it be a church, synagogue, or mosque, is not only a crime against people, but also an insult to God.” In an official statement released by the US Embassy on the matter, he said: “Insulting the sacred and desecrating a place dedicated to worship is a terrorist and criminal act and must be met with decisive consequences. These places of worship, sanctuaries, are among the last bastions of our civilization.”

He called for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks, calling for violence against holy sites to be against the teachings of God. Huckabee assured the Christians of Taiba that they deserve respect and have the right to live in peace and tranquility.

Mike also emphasized, as a representative of American citizens living in Israel, including Christians, Muslims, and Jews, that he will hold those responsible for this incident accountable if they are assassinated or become victims of a crime.
