Schools closed in a number of Iranian cities due to air pollution

Air pollution in Isfahan and East Azerbaijan provinces forced schools in Tabriz and Isfahan, as well as 14 other cities, to close.
The General Directorate of Education of East Azerbaijan issued a notice announcing the closure of Tabriz schools on Wednesday due to air pollution.
The secretary of the Isfahan Air Pollution Emergency Working Group also announced the closure of in-person educational activities at all educational levels on Wednesday.
Schools in the cities of Isfahan, Shahin Shahr, Dowlat Abad, Mobarakeh, Foolad Shahr, Najaf Abad, and several other cities in Isfahan Province will be closed.
Many experts and even officials say that the reason for the critical air pollution in winter is the replacement of diesel fuel in power plants due to a shortage of gas.
Tabriz representative Ruhollah Motafekr-Azad has announced that fuel oil burning has resumed at the Tabriz Thermal Power Plant.
