Deputy Minister of Health: Iran will be affected by Corona until next year

The situation in five Iranian provinces has been declared red. The number of coronavirus cases in ten provinces is also increasing. The possibility of reimposing restrictions in some provinces, including East Azerbaijan Province, has been raised.
The increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19 in many provinces of Iran has prompted warnings from government officials.
On Thursday, June 18, a meeting of specialized committees to combat the coronavirus was held with the presence of Hassan Rouhani. In this meeting, Rouhani warned officials against negligence and failure in combating the coronavirus.
The Iranian President described the results of inconsistency in combating the spread of the disease in Iran as "unfortunate" and "harmful" for the country.
Rouhani also called for the publication of information on the red status in different cities and provinces. It is worth noting that the lack of accurate and disaggregated information on the number of COVID-19 infected and unemployed victims has hampered the fight against the disease.
Hassan Rouhani, while re-emphasizing the use of masks and hygiene standards, spoke of the possibility of imposing new restrictions in some regions of Iran.
Increasing number of coronavirus victims
Sima Sadat Lari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic, announced on Thursday, June 10, an increase in the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Iran.
According to a report published by the Iranian student news agency ISNA, over the past 24 hours, about 2,600 more people have been infected with the coronavirus. 930 of the new cases of the disease have been hospitalized.
According to statistics from the spokesman for the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has reached 197,647. The same statistics have announced the number of victims at 9,272.
It is worth noting that, according to unofficial statistics published by some media outlets, the number of victims is higher than that announced by the Iranian government.
The situation in the provinces of Bushehr, Khuzestan, East Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Hormozgan remains red, while the increase in the number of people infected with the disease in the provinces of Golestan and Gilan has also fueled public concerns.
“Iran will still be involved in Corona”
Iraj Harirchi, Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Education, spoke to a reporter from the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) about the Ministry of Health's prediction regarding the spread of the coronavirus in Iran.
The Deputy Minister of Health said: "It is predicted that the country will be affected by the coronavirus for the next year and that deaths from it will continue."
Harirchi also announced that the number of infected and deceased people with the coronavirus in ten provinces of Iran is still increasing. According to the deputy health minister, the situation in these ten provinces has deteriorated over the past two months of May and June.
On the other hand, Aliyar Rastgo, the deputy political and security officer of the governor of East Azerbaijan, assessed the situation of the spread of COVID-19 in this province as serious and said: "Due to the increase in the number of infected people and deaths from Corona in the province, Corona restrictions will be reimposed."
The deputy political and security governor of East Azerbaijan claimed that 90 percent of the people are ignoring the warnings of the authorities. He believes that people's presence at weddings, mourning ceremonies, and family gatherings has contributed to the further spread of the disease in the province.
