The property of a Baha'i citizen in Qaemshahr was "confiscated in favor of the Executive Headquarters of the Imam's Decree"

HRANA News Agency, which covers human rights news, reported that the Special Court of Article 49 of the Mazandaran Constitution on January 13 ruled to confiscate the property of Shaida Tayed, a Baha'i citizen living in Qaemshahr, in favor of the "Imam's Command Executive Headquarters".

The Executive Headquarters of the Imam's Decree is under the supervision of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic, and its wealth was estimated at more than $95 billion in 2013.

HRANA announced on Monday, January 17, that this ruling was issued based on a "fatwa of religious authorities" stating that "Baha'is' property is not legitimate."

Ms. Tayed was arrested at her home on October 1 of this year, but was released on bail from one of the city's security detention centers on October 2. Her trial was held in November of this year. Apparently, Ms. Tayed was arrested and tried only on the charge of being a Baha'i. The Special Court under Article 49 of the Mazandaran Constitution has not brought any other charges against her.

Skylar Thompson, the external relations officer for the Human Rights Activists in Iran, told HRANA regarding this news: "This organization strongly condemns discriminatory practices against religious minorities in Iran. We call on Iran to take concrete steps to ensure that Iranians, especially Baha'i citizens, can enjoy religious freedoms, including the free exercise of their religious practices."

Baha'is in Iran face widespread pressure and discrimination, and many have been killed in physical attacks or in prison. A large number of Baha'is living in Iran have also been arrested, some sentenced to long prison terms, and their properties and properties have been seized by the institutions of the Islamic Republic.
