Human Rights Sources: A prisoner in Sanandaj Prison was killed after being "beaten by officers"

Human rights sources reported the death of a prisoner in Sanandaj Prison as a result of "beating by prison officers."

The HRANA website identified the prisoner as "Khosro Jamalifar," who it said was "accused of murder and awaiting sentencing."

The website reported that "the prisoner was hit on the head by prison officers, the negligence of the prison nurse, and the failure to send him to the hospital in a timely manner" were among the contributing factors in his death.

The "Hengev" website also reported, citing an "informed source," that the body of Khosrow Jamalifar was transferred to Tohid Prison by security personnel from Sanandaj Central Prison, and that he attempted suicide by taking pills.

According to the report, "After washing the prisoner's stomach, no evidence was found indicating that he attempted suicide by taking pills."

Hengaw quoted one of Mr. Jamalifar's brothers as saying that "security forces did not allow any of the family members to see the body and buried the body this morning in a completely secure environment."

A member of Jamalifar's family also said that "Khosro was arrested three years ago on charges of murdering two citizens, and we were in the process of obtaining consent from these two families."

Over the past years, a number of prisoners have lost their lives in prison.

According to the laws of the Islamic Republic, the responsibility for the health of prisoners lies with the judiciary and prisons organization. However, officials of these institutions, along with security agencies, refuse to accept any accountability or responsibility by concealing, fabricating narratives, and pressuring the families of prisoners and the deceased.
