MP: 170 Kolbars killed and injured in the past year

The representative of the people of Sardasht and Piranshahr in the parliament stated that the number of kolbars killed and injured during the period last year was 170.

According to HRANA news agency, quoting Shafaqna, Jalal Mahmoudzadeh, a representative of the people of Sardasht and Piranshahr, reported that 170 Kolbars were killed and injured during the year 1400.

Referring to these statistics, he stated: "A number of kolbars have been killed or injured this year as well."

Referring to the poor situation of the Kolbars, Jalal Mahmoudzadeh blamed several organizations, such as the "Ministry of Peace, Agricultural Jihad, Ministry of Oil, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs," for the current situation of the Kolbars and border dwellers.

Kolbari is a false and arduous job that people in border areas turn to due to a lack of job opportunities, and dozens of people are killed or injured every year in the face of natural hazards or as a result of shooting by border guards.

Part of the annual report on the human rights situation in Iran, specifically for 2021, focuses on citizens who have been killed or injured by military organs.

In addition to material damages, the killing of pack animals, and accidents including frostbite and avalanches, this report records the killing of 23 kolbars (border porters) and the injury of 81 others by border and law enforcement forces.

It should be noted that 28 other Kolbars also suffered accidents due to climatic and geographical conditions, such as frostbite and falls from heights, of which 16 Kolbars were injured and 12 Kolbars died.
