Isfahan Refinery Employee Bus Overturns, Leaves Four Dead and 17 Injured

A bus carrying employees of the Isfahan Refinery overturned on the morning of Sunday, December 2, killing at least four people and injuring 17 others.

The bus in question was traveling from Yazdanshahr to the refinery when it overturned on the new ring road in Khomeini County, Najafabad.

Mohammad Sadeq Hajian, public relations manager for the Isfahan Oil Refining Company, said the bus had "no safety issues" and the driver was "experienced," but due to the slippery road and the deviation from the dirt shoulder, it overturned.

According to ISNA news agency, he said that there were 21 people on the bus including the driver, and that four people died and 17 were injured, 13 of whom were taken to the hospital.

According to forensic statistics, in 2019, about 17,000 people were killed in traffic accidents in Iran and more than 347,000 were injured.
