US State Department: We await Iran's constructive response on reviving the JCPOA

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday, June 14, that the United States is awaiting a "constructive response" from Iran regarding the revival of the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The US State Department spokesperson has stated that Iran must abandon demands beyond the JCPOA.
Price is likely referring to the Islamic Republic's request to remove the Revolutionary Guard Corps from the United States' list of terrorist organizations and provide assurances that Washington will not withdraw from the agreement in the future.
In response to a question about Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian's statements about presenting a new package of proposals, the US State Department spokesperson said, "As we have previously made clear with our European partners, we are ready to immediately finalize and implement the agreement reached in Vienna. An agreement that has been ready for the past few months to reciprocally return to our JCPOA commitments."
Ned Price clarified that for such an agreement to be achieved, Iran must abandon demands that go beyond the scope and framework of the JCPOA.
The US State Department spokesperson continued, "We have made clear our position and where we stand. We believe that if Iran makes this political decision, the agreement can be finalized and, in return, it can easily return to its commitments under the JCPOA."
However, Ned Price warned that if Iran does not take such an approach, the conditions for a reciprocal return to the JCPOA will become more complicated than ever.
The US State Department spokesperson went on to say that Washington has been in regular but indirect contact with Iran through the European Union.
Ned Price said, "We are waiting for a constructive response from the Iranians, a response that does not include issues beyond the JCPOA."
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on the same day that Iran had proposed "a new political package and a new initiative," and the American side "accepted" this initiative, but also emphasized the approval of the Board of Governors' resolution against Tehran.
In response to the critical resolution of the IAEA Board of Governors, which was adopted due to Tehran's "non-cooperation" with the organization, Iran took retaliatory measures, including the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic announcing the shutdown of the IAEA's surveillance cameras at several nuclear facilities and the beginning of the process of installing advanced centrifuges.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that Iran has disabled 27 of the agency's surveillance cameras at the Tehran, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities.
However, Hossein Amir Abdollahian said: "Even now, alongside the resolution, there are further nuclear measures by the Islamic Republic of Iran, but we will not run away from dialogue and negotiation."
Meanwhile, the US State Department spokesperson has also stated that the United States is ready to return to its JCPOA commitments and lift sanctions as long as the JCPOA agreement serves its interests within the framework of non-proliferation.
