Atena Daemi's father announced his daughter's hunger strike in Lakan Prison in Rasht

The father of political prisoner Atena Daemi announced that his daughter has been on a hunger strike since Thursday morning due to the failure to address the repeated disconnection of the phone at Rasht's Lakan Prison and the failure of officials to respond to her protest.

Hossein Daemi wrote on Twitter that Ms. Daemi will continue her hunger strike until the phone problem is resolved.

According to Mr. Daemi, since his daughter's incarceration in Lakan Prison in Rasht, they have been facing a problem with the phone being disconnected.

He said that they traveled to Rasht due to this phone outage, but contracted Covid-19 during the trip.

Atena Daemi, a civil activist who had been serving her five-year sentence in Evin Prison since 2016 without a single day of leave, was deported to Lakan Prison in Rasht on Tuesday, March 16.
