Father and Son Arrested for Stealing Train Rail Bolts and Nuts

The commander of Rudbar Police in Gilan Province announced the arrest of a father and son who stole train rail bolts and nuts. According to ISNA news agency, officers at the police station on Tuesday, November 21, became suspicious of a pickup truck belonging to these two individuals during a patrol in Lushan. After pursuit and stopping the vehicle, they discovered hundreds of train rail fasteners.

Previously, reports had been published about stolen train rail bolts and nuts in several Iranian provinces. The removal of 168 bolts from train rails last month caused the Zahedan-Tehran train to derail, resulting in four deaths and over 150 injuries.

In Iranian media reports, no mention was made of the motive behind these thefts. In recent years, following the intensification of the economic crisis in Iran, rising unemployment rates, and increased financial pressure on citizens, theft of public property such as electrical cables, train rail fasteners, and even public statues has increased.

The United States says the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran are spending the country’s wealth on supporting terrorist groups in other countries instead of spending it on their own people.
