Tehran Metro Workers Gather in Protest Over Livelihood Issues and Unclear Employment Status

A group of workers in Tehran and Asaluyeh held demonstrations protesting mass layoffs, poor living conditions, and unpaid wages.
According to ILNA news agency, service workers on Line 1 of Tehran’s urban rail system, numbering around 250 people, held protests on Sunday, June 5th against what they describe as unclear employment and wage conditions following the contractor’s departure.
These workers are claiming wages, insurance, and accrued service benefits.
A number of operations and fluids workers at Iran’s National Drilling Company in the Pars Energy Special Economic Zone (Asaluyeh) also gathered in protest of their dismissals.
According to them, in recent days the company management, under various pretexts including end of work contracts and lack of need, has laid off a number of the company’s workers, each of whom has several months of unpaid wages.
It is reported that the number of dismissed workers at the National Drilling Company is around six hundred people.
