President Trump: If conditions are appropriate, I will meet with North Korean leader

The President of the United States says that if conditions are right and appropriate, he is prepared to meet with Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea. Previously, the United States had demanded that North Korea cease its nuclear activities.

According to the Associated Press, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said on Monday, April 31st to Bloomberg: “If conditions are appropriate for me to meet with him, I will definitely do it and I will be honored to do it.”

The President of the United States emphasized that he will only do this “if conditions are appropriate.”

Mr. Trump said in this regard: “Many political figures never say this, but I am telling you that under appropriate conditions, I will meet with him.”

Although the President of the United States did not elaborate further on what “appropriate conditions” means, in recent days he has called on the North Korean leader to abandon the controversial nuclear program in order to benefit from American assistance.

Tensions between the United States and North Korea have increased in recent weeks.

In the past month, American officials have repeatedly threatened that this country’s policy toward North Korea has changed. Last week, reports of a change in American policy were released.

Last week, Rex Tillerson, the U.S. Secretary of State, said that the Trump administration wants North Korea to come to the negotiating table.

The Secretary of State said: “We hope to convince them that: you do not need nuclear weapons for the survival of your regime…We are not seeking to overthrow your regime. We are not seeking to reunify the Korean Peninsula. We want a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.”

Mr. Trump on Thursday, April 29th, while speaking of the possibility of a “serious conflict” with North Korea, emphasized that he prefers to resolve differences through diplomacy.
