The "American Hope" rally at the University of Utah is a faith-based response to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

In the wake of the tragic murder of Christian activist Charlie Kirk, churches and faith leaders are seeking to shine the light of faith and love of Christ into the hearts of a wounded community with the "American Hope" gathering in Utah.

Utah Valley University, the scene of the tragic Charlie Kirk murder, is gearing up for one of the largest evangelistic gatherings of the year. The event, titled "American Hope," will take place on November 16 and aims to bring hope and peace to a community scarred by violence and grief.

The event is being led by Greg Lowry, a well-known pastor, author, and leader of the Harvest Christian Fellowship. He said that the original plan for such a gathering in Utah was to be held in 2027, but the murder of Charlie Kirk prompted the decision to move it forward.

"When this happened, we reached out to the churches in Utah and said, 'We stand with you.' Their response was simple and painful: 'Come on, our people are hurting and they need hope.'" Lowry said.

The tragic events of September 10, when Charlie Kirk was shot during the “American Turning Point” event, shook many Christian communities across the country. Now, just two months later, the same university is set to become a place of faith proclamation and spiritual renewal.

At the American Hope event, more than 60 churches from across Utah will simultaneously hold live gatherings to share the message of salvation and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend or watch the event live.

Greg Lowry stressed that the gathering is not political, but rather aims to bring people back to the life-giving message of the gospel. "True hope is found only in the person of Jesus Christ. At a time when our nation is wounded from within, we must return to the source of peace and truth," he said.

Pastor Lucas Miles, one of the leading leaders of faith ministry in America, said in a message to the organizers of the event: "Greg Lowry's courage in bringing the message of the gospel to people in grief and shock is an example of living faith in action. It is exactly what our country needs today."

The murder of Charlie Kirk is still under investigation, and the main suspect, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, is facing charges of first-degree murder. Police have said his possible motive was a disagreement over Kirk's conservative views on social issues.

However, faith leaders are adamant that the Christian community's response to darkness and violence should not be hatred or revenge, but love, forgiveness, and hope.

The American Hope event is not just a memorial for Charlie Kirk, but a message to all Americans that faith can create new life even in the midst of grief. At a time when the nation struggles with division and despair, the gathering is a reminder that the light of Christ still shines, a light that darkness will never overcome.
