A group of students met with the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences to follow up on the situation of a student activist.

A group of students from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tehran met with the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and requested that the situation of Leila Hosseinzadeh, a student activist who has been detained since December 7, be addressed. No precise information is available about her condition.
The Telegram channel of the country's student union councils announced this news, and wrote that on Monday, December 12, these students attended the office of Gholamreza Jamshidiha, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and expressed their deep concern about the arrest, health condition, and lack of news about Leila Hosseinzadeh, a master's degree student in anthropology at the university. They warned that university officials must immediately intervene in the issue of this student's arrest and demanded immediate follow-up on the situation of this imprisoned student.
It is said that the university's president has promised to follow up on the situation surrounding Ms. Hosseinzadeh's arrest.
The report also states that the security forces at Tehran University tried to disrupt the students' follow-up meeting by creating an atmosphere of fear and writing down the names of these students.
According to the country's student union councils, after meeting with the faculty president, these students announced in a student meeting that they will consider options such as closing virtual classes or holding a protest rally if Ms. Hosseinzadeh continues to be detained and remains unknown.
An informed source had previously told VOA that Leila Hosseinzadeh was arrested along with nine others during a raid by the Ministry of Intelligence forces on a vacation trip to Shiraz. Hours after the arrest, all of the detainees except Ms. Hosseinzadeh were released.
The informed source, who did not want to be named for security reasons, further told VOA that after his arrest, the student activist was transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence's detention center, known as "Palak 100" in Shiraz, and has not had any contact with his family.
The Telegram channel of the country's student union councils continued this report by adding that, during their meeting with Gholamreza Jamshidiha, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, these students also warned the dean of this university about establishing a security environment and filing cases against student activists.
On Wednesday, December 7, Fars News Agency published news about the arrest of a number of citizens in Shiraz, writing: "A number of elements associated with overseas counter-revolutionary movements and networks who, under the leadership of Ms. L. H., had set up a corruption circle in Shiraz to divert and attract young people were arrested."
However, Amir Raisian, Leila Hosseinzadeh's defense attorney, also called the news published by Fars News Agency a lie and fake on his Twitter page, writing: "The Fars news is a lie and fake for two reasons: 1- If the claim is "corruption and crimes against public decency," the bailiff does not have the right to investigate, 2- Only one person has been arrested."
The workers' union of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company also issued a statement on Sunday, December 11, condemning the arrest of Leila Hosseinzadeh, expressing concern about her health condition, and calling for her release.
Referring to the confirmation of Ms. Hosseinzadeh's five-year prison sentence by Branch 36 of the Revolutionary Court of Appeals, and just a few days before the arrest of this student union activist, the union wrote that her activities were in defense of the working class and she should be released unconditionally and immediately.
