800 villages in Khuzestan do not have access to sustainable drinking water

A representative of the people of Ahvaz in the parliament said that 800 villages in Khuzestan province do not have access to sustainable drinking water.
Mojtaba Yousefi told Fars News Agency on Monday, August 10, that this situation has emerged despite the fact that there are 5 large dams and 7 rivers in this province.
Referring to the approval of the withdrawal of $100 million from the National Development Fund to solve the water and sewage problem in Khuzestan, he said that this credit has not yet been provided.
The Ahvaz representative also said that the Iranian Planning and Budget Organization uses a parity rate of 10,000 tomans for each euro when converting credits into tomans, while the euro rate in the NIMA system is "much higher."
He pointed out that 50 million euros of credit is to be provided in the first step, and said that if the government's decision is implemented based on 10,000 tomans for every euro, we will see a reduction of 800 billion tomans in the allocated credit.
The water crisis in Khuzestan's villages has been raised many times over the past year. In June of this year, residents of the Ghaizanieh region, 45 kilometers from Ahvaz, gathered to protest the situation, only to be confronted by police.
