Death Sentence of Masoud Biranvand Sent to Supreme Court

The death sentence of “Masoud Biranvand” has been sent to the Supreme Court for confirmation and execution.

“Masoud Biranvand” is a 43-year-old resident of Broujerd and a truck driver. In November of this year, while he was shopping for household items with his wife and newborn child, he was attacked by several plainclothes officers who were unjustifiably attacking people. Masoud Biranvand engaged with them alone to defend himself and his family, and after being severely beaten, he was arrested and subjected to physical and psychological torture in prison.

On November 1st, the court issued a death sentence against him on the charge of “waging war against the state.” He has been charged with waging war against the state merely for protecting himself and his family against suppressive forces who had attacked them with batons. Now his death sentence has been sent to the Supreme Court for confirmation.

It would not be surprising if the Islamic Republic regime executes Masoud Biranvand even without the Supreme Court’s confirmation. This is the same action it took against Majid Reza Rahnavard, executing him without the Supreme Court’s confirmation.

Each day adds another crime to the crimes of the Islamic Republic government, and many innocent lives are being hanged by this regime.

The people of Broujerd have called on the Islamic Republic government to return Masoud to the people of Broujerd and his family. He alone is like a one-man army, but we, the people of Broujerd, support him and will not allow him to be hanged like other young people.
