Execution of a Prisoner Carried Out in Dezful Prison
Hrana News Agency – Early this morning, Thursday, March 3rd, the sentence of a prisoner who had previously been convicted of murder of a law enforcement officer was carried out in Dezful Prison.
According to Hrana News Agency, citing Tasnim, early this morning Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, a prisoner was executed in Dezful Prison.
The General and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Shush announced the news, stating that the prisoner in question had previously been convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of a law enforcement officer named Abbas Naderi, and his sentence had been confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Based on the annual report of the Statistical Center and the publication of human rights activists in Iran for the period (January 1, 2021 to December 20, 2021), at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death. Among those executed, it should be noted that 4 child offenders were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not announced by the government or judicial authorities, which human rights organizations refer to as “secret” executions.
