Father of Atena Daemi Reports His Daughter’s Food Strike in Lakan Prison, Rasht
The father of Atena Daemi, a political prisoner, reported that his daughter has been on a hunger strike since Thursday morning in protest of the repeated phone line disconnections at Lakan Prison in Rasht and the authorities’ failure to respond.
Hossein Daemi wrote on Twitter that Ms. Daemi will continue her hunger strike until the phone problem is resolved.
According to Mr. Daemi, since his daughter’s arrival at Lakan Prison in Rasht, they have faced the problem of repeated phone line disconnections for communication.
He stated that due to these phone disconnections, they traveled to Rasht, but contracted COVID-19 during this trip.
Atena Daemi, a civil rights activist who has been serving her five-year prison sentence in Evin Prison since 2016 without a single day of leave, was transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht on Tuesday, the 26th of Esfand.
