Letter from a Christian Believer from Evin: Your interrogation speech was nothing but insult

“What have I done against you and our land that you harbor such hatred? I have learned from the Gospel to love my enemies and to wish goodness and blessing for those who hate me; but truly, what have you learned?” These heartbreaking words were written by Amin Afshar Naderi, a Christian believer on hunger strike in Evin Prison.

Ruth Geldhiil wrote on the Christian Today website: Amin Afshar Naderi, after being sentenced to fifteen years in prison last week and having his Christian faith subjected to endless insult, decided to go on hunger strike unto death in Evin Prison. He is one of four Christians who received heavy sentences last week.

Three other Christians have each been sentenced to ten years in prison. Amin Afshar Naderi has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison due to double charges of insulting sacred beliefs.

In his letter from prison, he states: “I have learned not to speak ugly and vile words; but what have you learned? You whose speech during interrogation was nothing but insult and abuse, you who mocked my faith and beliefs and attacked my monotheistic religion; but I did not insult you…”
