Political Detainee ‘Mohammad Tahmasbi’ in Limbo at Shiban Prison in Ahvaz

“Mohammad Tahmasbi”, a political detainee, has been in limbo at Shiban Prison for over 175 days.
32-year-old Mohammad Tahmasbi from Izeh was arrested by security forces in Urmia on August 23 and transferred to Ahvaz. After a month during which his family had no information about him, he contacted them by phone to inform them that he had been transferred to the Ahvaz Intelligence Department detention facility.
After more than a month and interrogations, he was transferred from the Ahvaz Intelligence Department detention facility to ward eight of Shiban Prison. The charges against him include “propaganda against the state,” “disturbing public order,” and “cooperation with groups opposed to the system.”
Although Tahmasbi’s case is under review at branch two of the Izeh Prosecutor’s Office, no action has been taken to examine his case or hold a trial. Now, more than 175 days after his arrest, he remains in limbo at Shiban Prison.
In addition to being denied access to a lawyer, he suffers from infectious intestinal disease, shortness of breath, and chest pain, but unfortunately has been denied medical attention.
