Special News from Afghanistan

Once again, the Taliban attempted to carry out a suicide attack against Afghan media outlets to instill fear in the hearts of the people. As a result of this explosion, 7 people lost their lives and several others were injured and sustained severe burns from the blast. Unfortunately, one of our brothers was among those who were wounded in this attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. It has been reported that his condition is improving day by day, and we pray to God for his swift recovery.

There is a believing couple who have a daughter. They became acquainted with God two years ago, and now their lives are in danger. The husband’s family has learned that they have become Christians, or as he himself says, they have become infidels.

They want to divorce their daughter from him, but the wife of our brother, who has strong faith in God, stood firm against her father and told him that she would never separate from her husband and that she stands with him—meaning she is also a Christian.

However, her father did not react negatively to his daughter, and told his son-in-law, “I will give you time to become Muslim again.” But this brother responded by saying, “Even if Muhammad himself were to come back to life, I would not become Muslim.” His father-in-law then told him, “This answer will not be good for you,” and from that day on, he began to oppose him. For several days, he tried every way he knew to force him to become Muslim again, but he failed.

Gradually, they started informing this brother’s extended family—uncles, cousins, aunts’ children, and others—about the fact that he had become Christian and that he was inviting them to his house on Friday nights. They would all sit down and threaten him, saying: “If you don’t become Muslim, we will do this to you; if you don’t become Muslim, we will take your wife from you; if you don’t become Muslim, we will kill you.” But this brother did not give in to them and refused, because he had understood the truth of who Christ is.

Currently, this brother does not have much security, and at any moment his family members could cause him serious harm or even kill him. Some other believing brothers are looking for a way to get this brother, his wife, and their daughter out of the country as soon as possible. For a while, we must raise our hands in prayer and intercede for the protection of this brother’s life, praying that he may find a safe place as soon as possible where he and his family can stay for some time and find peace.
