Ten Years in Prison for Anoushan Avedian, Christian Citizen

“Anoushan Avedian” headed to Evin Prison to serve a ten-year sentence.
Anoushan Avedian went to Evin Prison yesterday, Monday, September 18, 2023, on charges of peaceful religious activity and forming and managing an illegal group to act against national security.
He had been sentenced by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court in April 2022 to ten years of deprivation of social rights. Last week on Wednesday, he was threatened by two Ministry of Intelligence agents who visited his home, telling him that he must go to prison to serve his sentence, and if he did not voluntarily report to prison quickly, the agents would forcibly take him to prison in handcuffs.
According to reports from “Article 18,” the threats by Ministry of Intelligence agents came despite the fact that Anoushan Avedian had always been available and had the ability to receive a summons from the enforcement branch or through the judicial system. Anoushan Avedian had only requested a few days to prepare himself for going to prison.
