Arson at a drug rehabilitation center in Mashhad kills and injures 27 people
The assistant prosecutor overseeing the detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office stated that the cause of the fire in one of the addiction treatment centers in the outskirts of Mashhad was intentional, and said that three people present at the location died and 24 others were injured as a result of the incident. According to him, three suspects have been arrested in this regard so far.
According to HRANA news agency, citing IRNA, the assistant prosecutor supervising the detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office announced the death and injury of 27 people present in a fire in the interior of an addiction treatment center located in the Dastgardan village near Miami, Mashhad.
He noted that three people present at the scene of the fire died from their injuries, and the incident also left 24 injured, who were taken to the hospital for treatment after receiving first aid at the scene.
The assistant prosecutor supervising the detention, treatment, and harm reduction centers of the Mashhad Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office stated that investigations are underway and additional information will be announced later. He also stated: "According to the investigations, this fire was intentional and three suspects have been arrested so far."
He added: "While extinguishing the fire, firefighters provided relief to 200 people present at the scene and moved them out of the danger zone."
