Official coronavirus statistics: The number of victims in Iran has exceeded 118,000

On Wednesday, with the announcement of 286 more deaths from COVID-19, the number of victims of the disease in Iran exceeded 118,000.

According to the public relations department of the Iranian Ministry of Health, 286 people infected with the coronavirus lost their lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the coronavirus to 118,191.

In the same day, 17,433 new patients with Covid-19 were identified in the country, of whom 2,164 were hospitalized.

According to reports on Wednesday, 6,632 patients with COVID-19 are being treated in intensive care units in hospitals.

On Tuesday, it was announced that more than 17,564 patients with coronavirus had been identified in Iran, and 379 people had died during the same period.

Thus, although the number of victims has decreased compared to the day before, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran is showing signs of increasing.

In this context, Tasnim News Agency warned on Wednesday about the possibility of the sixth peak of the coronavirus, reporting that the number of daily infections has increased by 36.7% compared to last week to 17,564, and is again approaching the mark of 20,000 infections per day.

The official statistics announced by the Ministry of Health are being questioned by a number of Iranian health officials, who have said that the number of infected and dead is at least twice the official figures.

Currently, 57 cities in the country are in red status, 238 cities in orange status, 136 cities in yellow status, and 17 cities in blue status.
