“JCPOA negotiations to continue after Raisi’s government comes to power”

A diplomatic source told Reuters that “Iran is not ready to participate in negotiations to revive the JCPOA until the Raisi administration comes to power.” So far, six rounds of negotiations have been held to revive the nuclear deal.
Reuters news agency quoted an unnamed diplomatic official as saying, "Iran will not participate in the seventh round of talks to revive the JCPOA agreement in Austria until the government of Ebrahim Raisi comes to power."
According to Reuters, the Islamic Republic has informed the European Union's foreign policy chief that it is not ready to resume the Vienna talks before the Ebrahim Raisi government takes office in early August.
A US State Department spokesperson also confirmed that Iran had requested more time due to the “government transition.” He said: “We were prepared to continue the talks, but the Iranians requested more time due to the government transition following the presidential election.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday, July 14, that “the opportunity to reach a nuclear agreement was taken away from his government and he regrets the loss of this opportunity.” He also expressed hope that Ebrahim Raisi’s government would “complete the job.”
So far, six rounds of indirect talks between Iran and the United States to revive the nuclear deal have been held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, but differences remain and the two countries have not yet announced a date for the next round of talks.
According to Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative to the Joint Commission on the JCPOA, issues such as lifting sanctions against Ali Khamenei and institutions affiliated with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the US guarantee that it will not withdraw from the JCPOA in the future, remain to be agreed upon.
