Golestan Governorate: Selling bread in supermarkets is prohibited

Mohammad Dehnavi, Deputy Coordinator of Economic Affairs of the Golestan Governorate, has announced a "ban on the sale of bread by supermarkets and stores."

According to ISNA, Dehnavi emphasized that stores and supermarkets that violate the law will be dealt with seriously.

Since last month, the "preferential currency" for "industrial and artisanal flour" has been removed, and related products have become several times more expensive. Ebrahim Raisi and government officials have repeatedly promised that "bread will not become more expensive."

At the same time, the "Smart Bread Subsidy" project has been launched in the provinces of Zanjan and Qazvin, and some other provinces have also begun to impose restrictions on the public supply of bread despite the liberalization of flour prices.

Critics of the government say that the 13-fold increase in the price of flour and the elimination of preferential currency will affect the prices of many goods, a reality that the government says it will control with cash subsidies and commodity certificates.
