"70 more filmmakers" added to the "Put Down Your Gun" statement

Mohammad Rasoulof, a well-known writer and director, announced on Wednesday, June 1, that more than 70 other filmmakers have joined the signatories of the "Put Down Your Gun" statement to express their sympathy for the people of Abadan and their opposition to any form of violence.

The names of Masoud Kimiai, Taraneh Alidoosti, Hanieh Tavasoli, Pegah Ahangarani, Marzieh Vafamehr, and Mani Haghighi appear among the new signatories of this statement.

On June 28, nearly 100 Iranian filmmakers issued a statement calling on the military, who they wrote had "become agents of repression against the people," to lay down their weapons and "return to the embrace of the nation."

Two days after the statement was published, Mohammad Rasoulof wrote on his Instagram page that he had received numerous calls from various institutions to the filmmakers who signed the statement, asking them to withdraw their signatures or talk to news agencies to "discredit" the statement.

Majid Barzegar, Jafar Panahi, Leila Hatami, Pouran Derakhshandeh, Reza Darmishian, Mehdi Karampour, Abolhassan Davoudi, Mohammad Rasoulof, Katayoun Riahi, Mostafa Al-Ahmad, Saman Salour, Alireza Raisian, Behtash Sanaiha, Maryam Moghadam, Ali Mosaffa, and Tahmineh Milani were among the signatories of the statement.
