Reza Taleshian Jelodarzadeh's hunger strike in protest of "lack of medical care" in prison

Reza Taleshian Jellodarzadeh, a journalist who has been sentenced to three years in prison, announced in a letter from Fashafoyeh Prison that he will go on a hunger strike starting Sunday, March 25, to protest the "lack of medical attention" and "not receiving medication."
Mr. Jellodarzadeh is the editor-in-chief of the banned weekly Sobh Azadi and a wounded man from the Iran-Iraq war. In his note, he emphasized that doctors have diagnosed his illness as incurable.
He wrote: "I need to continuously inject an external Avonex injection every week, but I have been deprived of this injection for more than 5 weeks now."
He further stated that since his arrest on January 4, he has "suffered two seizures," and despite the fact that the ward's medical doctor and the central medical doctor of Greater Tehran Prison have requested that he be sent to the hospital each time, prison officials have refused to do so.
Reza Jellodarzadeh has been accused of “inciting public opinion in cyberspace” and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic.” Previously, Reporters Without Borders had called for his immediate release, citing Mr. Jellodarzadeh’s serious illness.
