Hunger Strike by “Maryam Jalal-Hosseini” and “Fatima Tadrissi” in Protest of Their Detention Location in Prison

“Maryam Jalal-Hosseini” and “Fatima Tadrissi” have gone on hunger strike in protest of their detention conditions at Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

Maryam Jalal-Hosseini and Fatima (Mozhgan) Tadrissi were arrested on Ordibehesht 19 during nationwide teacher protests and transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin. After 24 days from their arrest, they remain in detention and uncertain circumstances at the said prison.

Maryam Hosseini and Mozhgan Tadrissi began a hunger strike starting Sunday, Khordad 7, in protest of their unsuitable conditions in this prison. They are being held in Ward 5 of Qarchak Prison in Varamin, and there has been reluctance to transfer them to Evin Prison, which has resulted in these individuals’ protest.

It should be noted that Mozhgan Tadrissi was arrested for the third time on Ordibehesht 19. On that day, she went to Baharestan Square to attend an educators’ gathering, where she was arrested by security forces.

They remain in uncertain circumstances and are demanding their transfer to Evin Prison.
