Execution of "Mujahid Korkor" on the birthday of "Kian Pirfalak"

"Mujahid Korkor," a protester from Izeh, was executed on the birthday of "Kian Pirfalak."

The death sentence of Abbas Korkuri, known as Mujahid Korkuri, a citizen of Izeh, was carried out at dawn today, Wednesday, June 11, the anniversary of Kian Pirfalak's birth. After announcing the execution, the Judiciary News Agency described him as "one of the main factors behind the unrest in Izeh city in recent years."

Mujahid Korkur was arrested by security agents in December 1401 and sentenced to death by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court in April 1402. His death sentence was overturned once by the Supreme Court, but he was sentenced to death again by the same branch on charges of "war and corruption on earth."

The Islamic Republic's judiciary had identified Mujahid as the main perpetrator of the shooting in Izeh on November 15, 1401, in which seven people, including Kian Pirfalak, who was only 9 years old, were killed. The judiciary's claim came despite the fact that Pirfalak's family had repeatedly denied accusations from Izeh citizens, including Mujahid, that they had been shot at, and had emphasized that government agents had shot at them.

Meysam Pirfalak, Kian's father, had previously released a video saying: "I have not and will not make any complaints against Mujahid Korkor and the children of Izeh because my wife and I saw with our own eyes that the security forces under the command of General Eidi Alipour fired on our car, wounded me, and killed my son."

Yesterday, reports were published about the Korkor family being summoned to prison for a final visit. After the report was published, human rights activists and social media users expressed concern about the possibility of Mujahid's execution and posted messages in support of him.

Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have repeatedly pointed out the unfair trial and torture of Mujahid to extract a forced confession, and have also warned of the possibility of his unjust execution.
