Increased pressure on Atena Daemi in prison; Soheila Hijab beaten

News published on social networks and human rights media outlets indicate that officials at Rasht's Lakan Prison are pressuring Atena Daemi, drawing an arrow on a statue dedicated to Ceausescu in support of the Iranian LGBT community, expelling the spokesperson for the Tehran Teachers' Union from the Education and Training Department, and beating Soheila Hijab in prison.

Atena Daemi's father announced on his Twitter account the escalating pressure on Atena Daemi by the authorities of Lakan Prison in Rasht, writing, "My daughter's life is in danger."
Hossein Daemi, the father of imprisoned civil activist Atena Daemi, expressed concern in a series of tweets on Tuesday, October 4, about his daughter's condition in Rasht's Lakan Prison, writing that despite the follow-up efforts, Ms. Daemi is still deprived of the right to make phone calls.
Referring to some of the pressure exerted on this civil activist by prison officials, including the head of the Andarzgah, Hossein Daemi wrote that the pressure on Atena has intensified after she revealed the conditions of prisoners held in this prison.
Athena Daemi had previously said in an audio file, referring to the situation of non-political prisoners in Rasht's Lakan Prison, that these prisoners in Rasht Prison, like other prisons, "are a showcase for the ruling party's lies, without enjoying the slightest benefit."
Soheila Hijab was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in March 2019 on charges of “propaganda against the regime,” “assembly and collusion,” “inciting public opinion with the intent to cause chaos,” “forming a group in support of women’s rights,” and “requesting a referendum and changing the constitution.” This sentence was confirmed on June 20, 2019, and the lawyer was arrested and beaten by the Revolutionary Guards of Tehran on the same day as she left the courtroom and taken to prison.
