Iranian Foreign Ministry releases statement in response to Israeli attack

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in response to today's Israeli attack on Iran.
Following the Israeli airstrike against Iran on the morning of Saturday, October 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while noting that the Israeli attack against Iran was an act of aggression, emphasized the clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter by attacking military centers in Iran, and strongly condemned these attacks, as well as the threat to the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of countries.
In response to these attacks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement as follows:
"As has been repeatedly emphasized by the competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself entitled and obligated to defend itself against acts of foreign aggression, based on the inherent right of self-defense, which is also reflected in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing the use of all the material and spiritual capabilities of the Iranian nation to defend its security and vital interests, and recognizing its duties towards regional peace and security, notes the individual and collective responsibility of all countries in the region to safeguard regional peace and stability, and appreciates all peace-loving countries in the region and other countries that, realizing the current grave circumstances, have expressed their disgust at and condemned the aggressive act of the Israeli occupation regime.
Undoubtedly, the continued occupation, illegal actions, and crimes of the Zionist regime in the region, especially the genocide of the Palestinian people and aggression against Lebanon - which has continued under the comprehensive arms and political support of the United States and some other Western countries - are the main cause of tension and insecurity in the region.
"Recalling the responsibility of each member state of the United Nations, the member states of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and the member states of the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949, to take immediate and collective action against gross violations of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, the Convention on the Suppression of Genocide, and international humanitarian law, which are simultaneously considered serious violations of international peace and security, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes the need for immediate and urgent action by the international community to stop the genocide, war, and aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, and to curb the Zionist regime's warmongering."
The statement did not directly mention Iran's military response to Israel. A senior Iranian diplomat also said about Israel's attack on Iranian military centers: "The Islamic Republic does not intend to retaliate at this time in response to Israel's attacks on some of its military centers in various cities. The regime's priority at this time is to prevent and control the negative psychological and economic consequences of Israel's attack on Iran."
