Iran accuses IAEA of publishing classified nuclear information

On Wednesday, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran accused the International Atomic Energy Agency of publishing confidential information and letters related to Iran's nuclear program.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization, said: "The agency should not exceed its authority and duties by publishing information and details of Iran's technical measures. If this situation continues, we may take steps to correct this situation."

In recent months, Iran has restricted the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in response to a parliamentary resolution.

Based on a resolution passed by the Islamic Consultative Assembly in December last year, Iran restricted access to IAEA inspectors to its nuclear facilities and suspended voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol as of March 2020.

As part of this measure, the Agency has not been allowed to access surveillance camera data at Iran's nuclear sites for months.

Last week, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, referring to Tehran's lack of cooperation, warned against repeating the North Korean scenario and the experience of severing cooperation with the Agency.

Several times, international news agencies have published news based on documents from the International Atomic Energy Agency, information that Iran now considers confidential.
