Babak Aghazadeh sentenced to 5 years in prison

Babak Aghazadeh, a citizen and sweeper of Malekan Municipality, was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Maragheh Revolutionary Court. He was arrested on December 15, 2019, by the city’s Intelligence Department while working and transferred to the agency’s detention center in Tabriz. He was temporarily released on bail about two months later, pending the completion of the trial.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Babak Aghazadeh, a citizen and sweeper of Malekan Municipality, was sentenced to prison.

Babak Aghazadeh was tried by the Maragheh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Jabbari and represented by Sajjad Vali Bigloo, and was ultimately sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime and membership in an opposition group.

This citizen was arrested by the city's intelligence agency on December 15, 2019, while working and transferred to the Tabriz Intelligence Agency's detention center. About two months later, after being transferred to Tabriz Prison, he was temporarily released after posting a bail of 600 million Tomans until the end of the trial.

Babak Aghazadeh works as a sweeper in the Malekan City Municipality.
