Corona crisis: 1.5 million people infected worldwide and Trump's impatience

The outbreak of the new coronavirus continues in the world. According to the latest statistics, about 1.5 million people worldwide have been infected with the virus. Despite the outbreak of the coronavirus, US President Donald Trump is impatiently waiting for the crisis to end.

The German news agency reported on Thursday morning, April 9, citing the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University, that the number of people infected with the new coronavirus has reached 1.5 million. More than 88,000 people worldwide have died from COVID-19.

The United States has the highest number of cases of the novel coronavirus, with more than 432,000 cases in the country.

According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 14,800 people have died in the United States from COVID-19 as of Wednesday evening local time.

The United States, with a population of 330 million, has become the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak. US President Donald Trump, who, unlike in the past, has been calling the virus harmless, is now talking about a war against an “invisible enemy,” and is impatiently waiting for the crisis to end.

He said at a press conference at the White House on Wednesday evening, April 8, that the United States could gradually return to normal if the number of detected cases of the new coronavirus decreases.

Trump said that normalization and the resumption of normal life and activities in some areas of the United States that have suffered less from the coronavirus outbreak may happen more quickly. He added, "It would be nice if the country could be reopened with one bell ringing at once."

The US president declined to give a specific date in this regard, saying: "We have to proceed cautiously."

This is despite the fact that two weeks ago, citing the dire consequences of the coronavirus outbreak for the US economy, he said that he might lift the restrictions imposed before Easter. However, he said at a press conference on Wednesday that he would trust and rely on the advice of experts in his decisions.

According to Trump, the more American citizens comply with the restrictions and measures imposed, the faster the country will return to normal.

Spain is in second place in the Johns Hopkins University ranking. According to the latest statistics so far (Wednesday evening (April 10), more than 148,000 cases of the new coronavirus have been identified in Spain and nearly 14,800 people have died from COVID-19. The number of people who have recovered in Spain has also been announced at 48,000.

Although the spread of the new coronavirus has slowed significantly in Italy, the country has suffered the highest number of fatalities.

According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University, nearly 17,700 people in Italy have died from COVID-19. The total number of confirmed cases in Italy is nearly 140,000, and the number of recoveries is about 26,500.

Germany (113,300 infected / 2,349 deaths), France (83,000 infected / 10,887 deaths), China (about 83,000 infected / 3,339 deaths) and Iran (64,586 infected / 3,993 deaths) are next in the Johns Hopkins University statistical list.
